Somewhere someone in Ukraine is Dying.

All evil needs to prevail is for good men to do nothing.

We should all know it's not enough not to do evil things, and we must all strive to be a force for good in this world as best as possible. That's why we feel anxious, sympathetic and helpless when a tyrant invades a perfectly innocent country, and there's no one there to back them up because of the fear of an all-out full-scale war. That's the Nuclear Paradox — a deterrent for another country's involvement and at the same time a facilitator for conventional conflict by an aggressor.

At times like this, we feel helpless; we wonder what we can do. It's easy to become distracted and consumed by the news in Ukraine. So it might come as counterintuitive to suggest we need to maintain our composure and serenity as best we can when our ability to help is limited. We should consider the proper response of caring but understand that meaningless sympathy does nothing to help those in need. If there is something that you can do to help tactically — donations, support for refugees, etc., then yes, your reaction and emotions to disturbing news have relevance and are justified to your reasoned choice. Otherwise, if emoting is all you can do, then it might be better to keep your serenity intact and get back to your duties — to yourself, your family and your country.
